ARC apex
This project focused on redesigning an existing brand realistically to sell a new product within the same target audience. I chose to reinvent the outdoor wear brand Arc’teryx to imagine what it would look like if they released a line of beer. “Arc Apex” uses the marketing techniques and minimal design of the original brand but adapts them to a beverage based format. Using “Apex” to both reference the peak of a mountain and the apex predator that is used on the can designs. Using multiple forms of media, such as package design, product design, video and poster design I worked to bring this new brand identity to life.

unpaved paradise
This assignment challenged us to advocate for a topic of our choosing by developing a design campaign. This campaign could use only two words, the rest of the message had to be made apparent with the design choices.

delerium
Using a cultural artifact of our choice I worked to create a custom font that emulated the spirit of that artifact. I chose to create a custom display font based on the animated 1973 french film “Fantastic Planet”. The imagery from the movie would serve as the inspiration for the process while designing this font.

don't be authentic
This project imagines a pop up website that appears when someone is attempting to download or create an AI typeface that either encourages or discourages them to continue. I chose to take a more sarcastic approach. My site encourages the use of AI fonts in a way that highlights their flaws. AI has become increasingly integrated into the design industry in recent years, and it seems as though there isn’t much time to stop to think about the potential harm it could cause.

This project served as the culmination of our Advanced Publication Design course, bringing together the systems, typographic control, and layout strategies we developed throughout the semester. The assignment was to design a cohesive, magazine-style booklet that demonstrated our ability to craft comprehensive, well-designed spreads with a unified visual language.
Paul rand book
This project used the Paul Rand essay “design and the play instinct” as the base for creating a booklet design that used rules and guidelines to inspire creativity. We used this essay to develop our own system of rules by which we used to design our own booklet using content that was provided to us.
